Beautiful Gibson 1971-3 Les Paul Custom in Walnut finish. Mostly mahogany construction with maple cap stained in translucent brown finish.

A very rare finish to see on a Custom. This features a pancake body which does aid with the weight slightly too and this, though being 10lb certainly feels lighter than the scales read. I nice example of a well balanced LP.

The guitar does show lots of play wear and natural ageing such as crazing etc. No neck repairs. Nut has been replaced to a Brass nut sometime ago I’d say by looking at it.

Original T-Tops still present and sound fantastic. The covers have nee removed and are are long gone in the midst of time.

Ebony board is clean and the frets appear original judging by the existing fret nibs unless they have been replaced by a very skilled luthier to retain those, they show very light wear.

Three of the pots appear changed and the possible original one dates to 1973. It is documented with other dealers who this has gone through over several years this it is 71-73. The small volute and made in USA is visible but the serial, though is mostly eligible, is hard to read fully.

This is a beautiful Les Paul Custom that has been used and loved as all good guitars should.

It plays amazingly well and has years and years left to be loved and enjoyed.

Comes with 80’s 3rd gen chainsaw case.

Although every guitar is checked at the point of buy in for condition we try to describe as accurately as possible and with the nature of every vintage, modern, used guitar you will always find blemishes held in certain lights that we have not solely pointed out. 

These are usually very small lacquer marks or polish swirls and you have to expect a margin of very light marks that go undetected in usual lit environments.
