I have only had two of these in 11 years and they must be one of most stunning guitars Gibson produced.
The Gibson L5S Custom was introduced at NAMM in 1972 and was produced until 1983.
This has a beautiful cherry flame burst which is almost 3D in the flesh.
The build of these is simply beautiful. It has a lovely ‘dinky’ look about it and they play incredibly well. Made for the Jazz player but quickly became loved by many players. Original T-Top pick ups sound superb. Frets have very minimal wear.
The harmonica bridge is the original Schaller but looks much newer retaining is gold. It seems the gold plating is a lot thicker than on the tail piece and pick up covers but does have some slight tarnish.
It does have some play wear for a near 50 year old guitar. It’s subtle but represents it careful owner ship and use over that time.
Some finger wear by the pick ups and small rash patch on the rear. Some lacquer wear on the neck rear showing the wonderful flame on the three piece neck.
This is wonderful to have in, an absolute gem from Gibson.
Comes with its original hard case.
Although every guitar is checked at the point of buy in for condition we try to describe as accurately as possible and with the nature of every vintage, modern, used guitar you will always find blemishes held in certain lights that we have not solely pointed out.
These are usually very small lacquer marks or polish swirls and you have to expect a margin of very light marks that go undetected in usual lit environments.
