Stunning Gibson 1981 Les Paul Custom in Alpine white which is naturally faded to that wonderful creamy hue.
This is the 3 pick up version which I and several other opinions of Gibson experts are 99% certain that this is factory route due to the bases of each cavity having the original finish in each including the route start marks. I’m not ruling out that it’s had any addition routes to the edges, I doubt it has due to the measurements being correct. It’s very hard to tell. I’d take it as non original.
The bridge pick up has been changed to most likely a 57 classic, though the previous owner having had this pre 1990 when 57’s came out has no recollection of him ever replacing it. The middle and neck pick ups are the original Tim Shaw’s, which as you probably know are superb.
It’s had no neck repairs, all checks out under black light but does show evidence of possible refin to the top including cavities. Someone had put a strap button behind the heel at some point which has been removed and filled many moons ago.
Original frets have minimal wear for it’s age and lots of life left. Has the great flip out machine heads too.
Comes with a later Brown Gibson hard case.
Not a killer weight either for a custom just a smidgen over 10lb.
Plays and sounds excellent and is a very nice example. The wear is general play wear with a few marks on the rear and is all consistent with age and I’d say moderate use rather than a heavy gig goer.
