The best attenuators that were made in my opinion…..the THD Hotplate. The range now sadly discontinued.
Mainly for use with no master volume amps…AC30’s (the real ones ;-)), Plexi’s etc.
This goes between your head and, in this case, your 8ohm Cab and you dial in the amount of attenuation you want and turn up your amp’s volume for that natural wonderful drive that your amp makes that normally you’d have to crank beyond the death zone.
I recommend that you use the thickest speaker cables as these carry a load. I have used these for years with good quality cables with zero valve issues. I only say this as some folk say any attenuators eat your valves, and they will with cheap thin cables.
These are excellent Attenuators. Bright and deep switches for any tonal compensation.
