Those who know the shop know that we really don’t take many basses unless it’s something like this.
Epiphone Newport Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1962), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard.

The Newport was the first solid body bass offered in the Kalamazoo Epiphone line, a later addition only launched in mid-1961. It was built on the same cherry-finished mahogany body as the Epi-branded solid body Wilshire, Crestwood and Coronet with the hardware and fittings of Gibson’s contemporary EB-0. Compared to that familiar SG-shaped model the Newport is much rarer, and only lasted a few years in this form before being modified in 1964 with a sleeker asymmetrical body and huge single-sided headstock.

A slinky short 30″ scale neck feels fantastic. Low action and set ups with flats.
A lovely rare bass in very fair condition for its age. Light general marks, rash on the rear. no breaks or repairs.
The Cherry has faded beautifully tops more brown hue. The Hand rest is missing but can be found with a diligent search!
The original cardboard case has long gone unfortunately;y but it does come with a modern hard case.
A really nice vintage `Epiphone to have in.

Although every guitar is checked at the point of buy in for condition we try to describe as accurately as possible and with the nature of every vintage, modern, used guitar you will always find blemishes held in certain lights that we have not solely pointed out.
These are usually very small lacquer marks or polish swirls and you have to expect a margin of very light marks that go undetected in usual lit environments.
